SHIVALIK KA HATH SAB KE SAATH
About Us Our Team
International Rotary Contact
to Leh by Rtn Dr S S Makkar
The trip to Leh was planned with following objectives
1. Spread Rotary awareness
2. Promote cycling as environmental friendly mode of
3. Contributions towards "save earth"
4. Health promotion by physical activity
To achieve these objectives, started the trip on 8th of
July, flagged off by club members (RCS). Reached Manali
late night by tempo traveller. After acclimatisation
ride on 9th, commenced the cycle expedition on 10th. Our
expedition was flagged off from Manali by local MLA Mr
Govind Thakur. Enroute met and interacted with different
kinds of people and made them aware about the rotary and
how it is "making a difference" in the lives of people.
It took us around nine days, passing through the
difficult terrains to finally reach our destination "Leh"
on 18th July evening. At Leh, we received a warm welcome
from the Chairman, executive council, Leh, Dr Sonam Dawa
Lonpo, who was also a likeminded personality and
promoted cycling as an environmental friendly mode of
transport. We gave him "The rotary prayer" as a token
and he felicitated us. It was a wonderful and a lifetime
experience for us.
